KAMLOOPS — Annie the cat is on her way home to Kelowna.
The feline gained celebrity status after she was stolen from the Buckerfield’s store in Kelowna last Saturday.
Staff said that a woman, accompanied by a man, had taken Annie.
Employee Colby Boettcher says Annie has been located in Ashcroft — about an hour’s drive from Kamloops.
He says Kamloops RCMP contacted Buckerfield’s to say that Annie had been surrendered by the woman who took the cat.
Boettcher says the woman, who resides in Ashcroft, was overwhelmed by guilt after seeing news coverage of the theft.
The woman had apparently lost a cat that looked similar to Annie and couldn’t resist the temptation of taking the animal.
Staff at Buckerfield’s say they don’t hold a grudge.
RCMP say no charges have been laid.
