LETHBRIDGE, AB – More charges have been laid against the owners of a Lethbridge funeral home previously accused of fraud and offering an indignity to a dead body.
The new charges relate to at least nine incidents involving fraudulent billing practices at the Cornerstone Funeral Home between March 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2010.
Ralph Vincent Roman Zentner and his wife Faith Ann are alleged to have charged the province a fee for scattering or burying ashes when the families did not request it. In all the cases, the ashes of the descendents were kept or disposed of by the families.
The Zentner’s are now each facing a total of five counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of offering an indignity to a dead body.
The couple are scheduled to appear in court early next year.
