MARTENSVILLE, Sask. – Extensive construction and renovations taking place at Martensville High School (MHS) will mean longer days in classroom next year for students but the school year will end sooner.

Students at MHS will begin their school year like all Prairie Spirit School Division students on Sept. 2, but they will have almost a half hour of class time added to each day.

There is one side benefit to MHS students – an earlier start to summer vacation. The school year will end on June 5, 2015 instead of June 26, 2015 for other students in the school division.

Officials say the alternate schedule will reduce exposure to distractions of construction noise during renovations and the additional month of construction time next summer will allow construction to be completed quicker.
