Friday marks a sad anniversary for an east end Montreal family.

One year ago, 19-year-old James Khan went missing.

The young man suffers from a mental illness and requires daily medication.

His family worries he could be disoriented and lost – aimlessly walking the streets of the city.

"Somebody out there has to know something," James’s aunt, Joanne Gentile, said. "If you know where he is, please call police, we will not press charges."

Gentile said the missing man’s mother and three brothers have been devastated by the disappearance.

“It’s been horrible. The whole family is affected," she said.

There have been a number of reported sightings across Montreal, including the West Island.

"We also received information about him being spotted in Mascouche, Terrebonne, and Ville St-Pierre. Police checked but there is nothing," said Pina Arcamone from the Missing Children’s Network.

There is also a possibility that Khan could be in the Ottawa area.

Employees from the Missing Children’s Network have alerted counselors at psychiatric facilities in that area to be on the lookout.

Khan is 5-foot-8, 136 pounds.

He is dark-skinned and speaks English.

Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1.
