CALGARY – Transit users will soon be able to pay for fare using their Connect card.

On Wednesday, Calgary Transit announced the winning name of its new electronic fare card.

More than 5,000 entries were submitted; Calgarians had their chance to vote for their favourite of the top three – Range, Energy and Connect.

The Connect Card will allow users to load their card online with cash, rides or monthly passes. Users will be able to pay by tapping their card at a reader installed on buses and CTrain stations.

The Connect Card will be available beginning in June 2012.

Last week, CTrain ticket vending machines also began accepting major credit cards and providing change to customers using cash.
