VICTORIA – A man was airlifted from a remote B.C. inlet to a hospital in Victoria on Monday after he was attacked by a grizzly bear.
A spokeswoman for the Vancouver Island Health Authority said the man, thought to be in his 50s, is in serious condition, but details of his injuries were not available.
He is believed to have been picking berries near the small Central Coast community of Oweeekeno, home of the Wuikinuxv First Nation.
Rivers Inlet is about 65 kilometres north of the northern tip of Vancouver Island and about 350 kilometres northwest of Vancouver.
