Meet the candidates in D’Arcy-McGee’s election race

There are five candidates running in the riding:

Quebec Liberal Party: David Birnbaum

Quebec Solidaire: Suzanne Dufresne

Parti Quebecois: Eliane Pion

Coalition Avenir Quebec: Elizabeth Smart

Green Party of Quebec: Abraham Weizfeld

D’Arcy McGee has been one of the safest Liberal riding since its creation in 1966; the only exception was in 1989-1994 when it was held by independent Robert Libman. David Birnbaum is running for the Liberals this election (replacing Lawrence Bergman).

The riding is the only provincial electoral district in Quebec with a Jewish majority.

2012 voter turnout: 65.82%

1995 referendum vote: Yes: 3.6%; No: 96.4%

On April 7, 2014, polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find your local polling station, click here.

You must be entered on the Quebec list of electors in order to vote. When heading to the poll station, remember to bring either your driver’s licence, health insurance card, Canadian passport, Treaty status card or Canadian Forces ID.
