Construction has begun on a new children’s water park in West Kelowna.
Mayor Doug Findlater led the ground breaking ceremony at Town Centre Park.
The project has been largely funded by the Rotary Club of Westbank, which raised $248,445 in cash and $40,000 of in-kind labour toward the project. The District of West Kelowna contributed $79,555.
Key funding partners for the Rotary Club’s contribution included Okanagan Kids Care and the Westbank First Nation.
The annual Rock for Kids event at Whiski Jack’s Pub has helped raised funds for Rotary.
The spray park project is expected to be complete by September 2011.
Town Centre Park in Westbank features public washrooms, a picnic area, a community garden and off-leash dog park.
