Constable Garrett Styles: Visitation, funeral and trust fund details

Visitation and funeral details have been released for Constable Garrett Styles, the York Regional Police officer who was killed in the line of duty on June 28.

A police procession will step off from the Upper Canada Mall at 10:30 a.m. and will travel south on Yonge Street, from Davis Drive to Eagle Street.

Members of the public who wish to pay their respects to Constable Styles are invited to line up along Yonge Street, between Kingston Road and Eagle Street, before 10:30 a.m.

Access to Yonge Street will not be available to motorists due to road closures, but side streets to the east and west will remain open.

The public is also invited to view the funeral outside the Ray Twinney Complex in the southwest parking lot, where remote audio and video will be set up. Seating inside the complex is not available to the public. This parking lot will not be accessible by vehicle, again due to the road closures.

Road closures:

Yonge Street will be closed between Kingston Road and Eagle Street beginning at 10 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m.

Davis Drive between Yonge Street and George Street will also be closed during this time period. Eagle Street West from Davis Drive to Yonge Street will be also be closed.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Yonge Street will be also be closed south of Eagle Street to Mulock Drive and Davis Drive will be closed between Bathurst Street and Yonge Street. Only local traffic will be permitted though.

Police are urging all motorists to avoid the entire area between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
