Canadian musician Dave Gregg of D.O.A. dies at 54

TORONTO — Dave Gregg, a former member of influential Canadian punk rock band D.O.A. reportedly died Sunday. He was 54.

The musician died in White Rock, B.C. surrounded by family members. He reportedly suffered a heart attack.

Gregg joined D.O.A. in 1980 and played guitar on the albums Something Better ChangeHardcore ’81, War on 45, Let’s Wreck The Party, True North Strong and Free and Murder He left the band in 1988.

Gregg would later spend six years as a member of B.C.-based Celtic punk band The Real McKenzies.

“He was a great guitarist and an unbelievable showman,” recalled D.O.A. member Joe S***head Keithley in a message on the band’s Facebook page.

“But more importantly he was genuinely nice guy and a caring human being, who had one of the most wicked senses of humor I have ever come across.”

Gregg is survived by his wife Cathy.
