Hudak won’t back off allegations Wynne oversaw wiping of government hard drives

TORONTO – Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak is not backing off his allegations that Kathleen Wynne was in charge when a senior Liberal staffer wiped clean 24 computer hard drives in the premier’s office.

Hudak says information from the provincial police anti-rackets squad shows the boyfriend of a deputy chief of staff to former premier Dalton McGuinty had an administrator’s access to the hard drives after Wynne had become Ontario premier-designate.

He says Wynne was acting as if she were premier in late January 2013, holding meetings and directing government officials, even though she wasn’t sworn in until Feb. 11.

Hudak rejects Wynne’s claims that she didn’t know what was going on in the premier’s office until after she officially took over as premier from McGuinty.

Wynne released an open letter Sunday calling Hudak’s allegations “false, misleading and defamatory” and demanding he retract the statements and remove them from the PC party website.

Hudak says he is “absolutely not” backing down from the allegations, adding if Wynne didn’t know what was going on then she’s incompetent.

The premier won’t be in question period today when the Opposition launches its attack on her credibility based on the explosive information contained in the provincial police document released late last week.
