Kevin learns more about Paper Airplanes – not the kind that flies

When I was in high school, a group of theatre students, myself included, put on a play. We wrote it ourselves. We directed it ourselves, designed our own sets. We, obviously, acted in it ourselves. We were so swollen with pride people thought we’d been stung by bees.

Is Paper Airplanes different from that? Um… yes. Yes, absolutely. Because they wrote it, and directed it, and acted in it, sure, but they lit the scenes, shot the scenes, edited them.

It’s tireless work creating art, and they’re willing to give theirs away for free next week. It’s all to do with love of their creation. Tuesday, April 1, show them some love and head to the Broadway Theatre.

Randy Donauer discusses with Jessica why he is opposed to spending more money on public art

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Randy Donauer made some excellent points in regards to why he is opposing the proposal to spend more money on public art. He says he’s not against public art; he just has other reasons why we shouldn’t spend so much on it.

Take a look at the interview and you can decide for yourself, and while you’re at it, let your city councilor know your two cents on the topic too. I personally love public art (when it’s done right).

Melissa and butterflies go well together at Gardenscape

It was great to escape the winter even for the morning walking through the Gardenscape Show. And if you couldn’t tell from the show this morning, my favourite part was the Butterfly House.

There’s something relaxing about having butterflies flying around. The butterflies featured on the show are extremely friendly. Organizers of the Butterfly House are encouraging people to get up close and personal with the insect.

I’m looking forward to learning more about how to garden at their Garden 101 sessions. There has been a shift toward growing your own food and the show will be providing attendees with the knowledge in order to do so. If you would like to check out Gardenscape, doors open today at 11 a.m.
