CALGARY – Police say a weekend stabbing in the city’s southeast was not a robbery gone bad as originally thought.
A man in his 20’s was rushed to hospital by his girlfriend on Sunday after being stabbed while in parking lot of the Shawnessy Shopping Centre.
Originally, investigators were told the victim had been attacked during a meeting with potential buyers of a cellphone he had put up for sale on Kijiji.
However, on Friday, police said they no longer believe that to be true.
Officers say they still think the stabbing occurred in the same location, but allege it was actually a targeted attack in which the victim knew his attackers.
The victim was stabbed while inside an SUV with three other men, and investigators are trying to determine the motive.
