Vancouver riots: Photo gallery, video and more

VANCOUVER – B.C.’s premier and Vancouver’s mayor are promising to reclaim the image of the city trashed by rioters last night.

Both Premier Christy Clark and Mayor Gregor Robertson blame the violence on a small band of criminals who they say were determined to cause chaos.

Robertson says the rioters don’t define the city, adding its true representatives are the citizens who volunteered to come out and help clear away the debris.

He says there will be a full review of last night’s response to the violence to ensure it never happens again, and both he and Clark say the rampage won’t stop the city from holding future celebrations.

Clark is promising that the rioters will be brought to justice with the help of citizens who took video of their actions, and she’s urging people to give police any photographic evidence they may have.

Robertson says there was almost no violence during last year’s Olympics because there was a billion dollars worth of security in place for the Games.
