Vernon Canada Day fireworks extended

Vernon is planning an extended fireworks display this Canada Day.

Thanks to a $5,000 donation from a new sponsor, Vantage One Credit Union, the annual fireworks display on July 1st has been extended by more than five minutes.

“Supporting this fantastic event is part of Vantage One’s onling commitment to supporting our great community,” says Community Support Coordinator Galina Labum.

The entire Canada Day fireworks show in Vernon will be about 15 minutes this year.

Free public transportation from the Vernon Recreation Centre to the Department of National Defense (DND) grounds on Highway 97 is being provided to reduce traffic congestion.

Vernon Fire & Rescue personnel will monitor weather and conditions to ensure public safety. Pets will not be permitted on the DND grounds.

The Canada Day fireworks are also sponsored by Funtastic, Vernon Moving and Storage, Heritage Canada, the City of Vernon and other community donations.
