The announcement comes the same day as former Minister of Municipal Affairs Linda Jeffrey announced her resignation and candidacy for Brampton’s mayoralty.

Former Attorney-General John Gerretsen, MPP for Kingston, (who does not intend to run for re-election) is now without a cabinet portfolio but will serve as chairman of cabinet after being replaced by Meilleur. She becomes the province’s first francophone Attorney General.
