P.E.I. pickup truck crash victim identified as Ronald McCarville

RICHMOND, P.E.I. – The RCMP has released the name of a 49-year-old man who died after crashing his pickup truck into a tree following a police pursuit in Prince Edward Island.

The Mounties say they had quit the chase shortly before they found the crashed vehicle just past the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 127 on Wednesday evening near Richmond.

Ronald McCarville of Kensington, P.E.I., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they got their first report of a vehicle driving all over the road near Travellers Rest around 5:30 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for today in Charlottetown.
