It looks like the Green Men have some feminine competition.
The now-legendary Vancouver Canucks fans were upstaged Wednesday night, when one female fan lifted her Canucks jersey and pressed her bare breasts against the penalty box glass.
The uncensored display – all six seconds of it – was picked up by CBC and broadcast across the country on Hockey Night in Canada.
San Jose Sharks forward Ben Eager, who was in the penalty box, was the primary recipient of the third-period display. But if Eager noticed the fan flashing him, he didn’t visibly react.
CBC head of media relations Jeff Keay said that the footage was picked up by an in-house camera that the broadcaster doesn’t control.
The woman was sitting near where the Green Men – a pair of fans who attend the team’s games dressed in green spandex body suits – are normally found. The Green Men tweeted earlier in the day to say they would not be attending the game.
"Sorry folks, no game for us tonight. Tix are a little too pricey and Nashville put us in debt," they said on Twitter.
The pair, who are known for their taunting of opposition players in the penalty box, had some fun with the one-upping of their own antics.
"I know we couldn’t be there but I hope we sent a suitable replacement (or is it replacements?)" they tweeted after the game.
Television viewers also took to Twitter to comment on the now-famous fan’s unique taunt.
New York Islanders forward Michael Grabner wondered how the Green Men would compete with the display.
"Wondering what the green men are thinking??? Maybe getting implants as I speak?!?" he tweeted.
Keay said that the CBC has "no plans at this time" to institute a tape delay to prevent similar images hitting the airwaves in future. The CBC placed controversial hockey commentator Don Cherry on a seven-second tape delay in 2004 following comments he made during its Coach’s Corner segment.
Keay said the CBC was hopeful fans would keep their passion more carefully hidden at future games.
"We appreciate the enthusiasm of our fans, but we hope that they act appropriately at the game," he said.
