MONTREAL – A prominent politician rumoured to be planning a new Quebec political party says he’s not interested in merging with the ADQ.
There has been speculation that a new right-of-centre party, if it gets off the ground, might join forces with the already existing but electorally unsuccessful Action Democratique du Quebec.
But Francois Legault is quashing such talk – at least for now.
The one-time senior Parti Quebecois cabinet minister says all he wants to do for now is produce position papers on key issues of public policy.
He says the so-called Coalition for Quebec’s Future is a non-partisan group that has simple plans: produce four policy papers, tour Quebec to talk about them, and disappear.
But Legault is not ruling out creating a political party afterward.
