Calgary toddler’s death a year ago ruled a homicide

<p>CALGARY – A Calgary toddler’s death a year ago is now being classified as a homicide by police.</p> <p>Officers were called to a home in the city’s southeast last May and found a 14-month-old girl in medical distress.</p> <p>Sarvia Elizabeth Velasquez was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital but could not be revived.</p> <p>An autopsy the next day was inconclusive and it was decided further tests were needed.</p> <p>A final report in December said the girl was asphyxiated and found her death to be non-accidental.</p> <p>There’s been no word on charges.
