Stabbing in west Edmonton ruled a homicide

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) confirmed a fatal stabbing that happened  in a parking lot on Wednesday is a homicide.

Police say an altercation took place in a parking lot in the area of 168 St. and 118 Ave. between two men just after 2 a.m. Wednesday. One of the men was stabbed during the fight.

The medical examiner has completed the autopsy and confirmed 34-year-old Ashley John George Macneil died from a stab wound.

The victim was treated at the scene but died a short time later in hospital.

The EPS and homicide detectives continue to investigate.
