The social media movement called the ‘Winter Challenge‘ is getting some high-profile attention in B.C., courtesy of Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.
Resident Christine Smith-Martin issued the challenge the Robertson and councillor Andrea Reimer, and they took a chilly dip on Sunday afternoon.
“They were great sports about it,” said Smith-Martin. “The whole message being ‘get off the couch and out of those video games and come out and do sports in the community and get active.”
Robertson has now nominated Premier Christy Clark to take the challenge.
“Just love her to get active, get in the water and she works hard for B.C., and it’s a great opportunity to clear her head in the crisp cold waters of our coast.”
According to the rules, Clark now has 24 hours to complete her challenge.
