Saskatchewan Roughriders add a QB

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Thursday they have signed free agent import quarterback Chris Leak.

Leak was released this past off-season by the Montreal Alouettes after spending two years with the club. He was originally signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2008, but was claimed by the Als one day later after Hamilton released him.

Prior to joining the CFL, Leak was signed by the Chicago Bears after failing to be selected in the 2008 NFL draft. Leak played in one exhibition game for the Bears before being released on September 16.

In his senior year at college, Leak led the Florida Gators to the 2007 BCS National Championship.

In a touch of irony, Leak threw his first pass in the CFL for a touchdown against the Riders in August 2009.

No financial details were released.
