Watch: Whitecaps debut new kit

Vancouver Whitecaps fans will be seeing a lot more blue on the green pitch this season.

The team has unveiled its new jersey for the 40th anniversary season.

It is a return to the familiar deep sea blue, a nod to the water that surrounds and makes up the landscape of Vancouver.

The silver represents the silverware the club has won over the years, and the team’s mantra “Our all. Our honour.” is inscribed on the inside of the neckline.

The jersey weighs just 100 grams and uses the same technology that will be used at this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The new uniforms will be worn by the Whitecaps players for the first time at the season opener game against New York Red Bulls on March 8.
