Two Montreal hospitals have received an $8 million financial boost from the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation.
The CHUM (Fondation du Centre hospitalier de l’Universite de Montreal) and MUHC (McGill University Health Centre) will put the money toward projects aimed at modernizing Montreal’s academic hospital environment.
It’s the biggest healthcare donation in the history of the foundation.
It comes as part of a joint financing campaign being conducted by the two foundations among Quebec businesses.
“The quality of patient care and innovation in the field of health are at the heart of the undertaking by the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation. By participating in the joint CHUM-MUHC Corporate Campaign, we want to actively contribute to providing the Montreal community with health care at the cutting edge of technology," said Janine Bombardier, president of the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation.
"With this generous gift, the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation demonstrates its confidence and willingness to invest in health for the benefit of patients," said Ékram Antoine Rabbat, president and CEO of the Fondation du CHUM.
"This major gesture makes a real difference and we are truly grateful. It embodies our goals and encourages us to continue the efforts made in recent years," he added.
The J. Armand Bombardier Foundation, a private family organization, was established in 1965 to carry on the humanitarian work of Joseph-Armand Bombardier and contribute toward the realization of Bombardier’s vision of social responsibility.
