MONTREAL – Mayor Denis Coderre has suggested to members of his executive committee that some bars should stay open until 6 a.m.
This would extend opening hours another three hours as right now, bars must stop serving drinks at 3 a.m.
During a meeting Wednesday morning, Coderre reportedly requested a debate on the matter, bringing up issues of noise, security and more that need to be taken into consideration to possibly change the law.
The discussion comes after certain bars were allowed to stay open all night during Nuit Blanche for the Montréal en Lumière festival.
The municipal government has yet to say when negotiations into this project would start.
