Robin’s Nest Live Stream

Global Regina has set up a webcam in the News Directors back yard to document a Robin laying her eggs to hatch a few chicks.

A Robin unlike other birds lay their eggs in mid morning instead of sunrise because a robin eats a lot of worms while their laying eggs and the early hours of the morning is the best times for a robin to go hunting for worms.

The Robin will lay four eggs in total BUT they only lay one egg per day because unlike mammals birds only have one ovary instead of two.

Once the Robin has laid all four eggs she will then sit on the eggs for 12 to 14 days rarely leaving the eggs alone even on a real warm day she will only leave the nest for about 5 minutes at a time.

Once the eggs are ready to hatch it could take the chick all day to break out of the egg because the shell is so hard for the chick to break thru.

When the chicks are hatched from the eggs then comes the hard part for Robins because the chicks require a lot of food and they have to be protected in the nest for up to 16 days until they are ready to fly away.
