It may not seem like it, but pothole repairs are ongoing in Saskatoon.
One of the reasons why is the large number of potholes in the city – one of the worst years in recent memory.
Ageing roadways and increased traffic, combined with the freeze and thaw cycles from this past winter and moisture from rain last fall, are factors for the increase.
The sheer number of pothole repairs will affect the budget.
“We may be looking at cutting back on some other programs because of the amount of work that’s involved,” said Wade Gasmo, Public Works Manager for the City of Saskatoon.
“We may be delaying some work in some other areas just to get the potholes fixed.”
Three private firms are helping city workers with pothole repairs.
