From potash to coal, it’s an industry that plays the largest role in Saskatchewan’s economic growth.
Sunday marks the start of Saskatchewan mining week. This year’s theme “Mining: Investing in Saskatchewan’s Growth.”
Last year, Saskatchewan ranked second in Canada for the production of mineral resources.
The Sask. Mining Association wants everyone to celebrate our province as a significant player on the global mining scene.
Dozens of events are being held across Saskatchewan this week including a free public tour of Sherritt Coal’s Boundary Dam mine on Thursday. Boundary Dam is approximately 200 km southeast of Regina.
Next Saturday, the annual emergency response/mine rescue competition will be held at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
There are currently 17 mines in production in the province – 10 potash, three coal, two uranium and two gold.
