Man, 23, assaulted during failed robbery in Fairview

HALIFAX – A 23-year-old man is recovering after being pepper sprayed during a botched robbery.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. Friday near Glenforest Drive and Lacewood Drive, said Sgt. Rob Lowther. Two suspects approached the 23-year-old and asked for his cellphone. The victim resisted and was pepper sprayed before the two suspects fled empty-handed.

The victim went home to shower and then called police. Officers used the K-9 unit to search for the suspects but they were not located.

Police said the men were black, had thin builds and were wearing bulky clothing. They wore dark masks covering most of their faces.
