KELOWNA — The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 9-5 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna in a high scoring, back and forth Western Hockey League game.
Twice the Rockets scored three goals in less than five minutes in the game as Kelowna tied its season mark for most goals scored in a game.
Tyrell Goulbourne led the way on the scoresheet with a three goal performance while the line of Marek Tvrdon, Rourke Chartier and Nick Merkley combined for nine points. Tvrdon had a goal and three helpers while Merkley scored twice and Chartier added three assists in the game.

Damon Severson, Kris Schmidli and Justin Kirkland also scored while Madison Bowey, Carter Rigby and Riley Stadel each had two assists.
Jordon Cooke earned the win in net in the game that featured plenty of goals and scoring chances. The teams combined for nine goals in the second period alone.
The win improved the Rockets record to 49-9-0-4 on the season and moved five points ahead of Portland in the race for first overall in the WHL.
The Rockets are right back in action on Wednesday as they left after the game to head for a meeting against the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday night.
