TORONTO – As Canadians head to the polls to decide the 41st federal election, Global News will provide comprehensive election coverage on Global Television and online at GlobalNews.ca.

The Decision Canada coverage special will provide viewers with up-to-the-minute, multi-platform election news breaking across Canada.

Decision Canada starts on election night, May 2, 30 minutes before local polls close.

Global News’ special presentation will include results tracking and local election updates every 20 minutes, plus ongoing online coverage of key ridings to watch, leader profiles, campaign highlights and commentary from Global’s team of political pundits.

Live streaming of the special election presentation, plus detailed results from all 308 ridings, will be available online at GlobalNews.ca/DecisionCanada.

National & Local Live Coverage

Global News’ award-winning team of reporters will cover the election from 20 remote locations across Canada, including the main party headquarters and key ridings from coast to coast.

Led by Global National Anchor and Executive Editor Dawna Friesen, Decision Canada election coverage kicks off live from Global News’ election headquarters in Toronto.

Public opinion and elections expert Barry Kay will join Friesen and Global National‘s Eric Sorensen on election night to provide ongoing analysis of the national numbers and riding-by-riding results as they come in.

Former Government House Leader and Conservative MP Jay Hill joins Goldy Hyder, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Communications Firm Hill & Knowlton, to offer live analysis of the Conservative campaign.

Former Liberal MP and Minister of Canadian Heritage, Sheila Copps, joins Penny Collenette, a former senior advisor to Michael Ignatieff’s leadership bid, to examine the Liberal campaign.

Joy MacPhail, former MLA cabinet minister and Leader of the Opposition in British Columbia will be joined by Ian Capstick, a former NDP strategist and Media Consultant at MediaStyle, for analysis of the NDP campaign.

Global National correspondent Carolyn Jarvis will be joined by Darrell Bricker, expert pollster and CEO of Ipsos Global Public Affairs, to examine the latest polling trends going into the election and through to the exit polls.
