Video: March may be just four days away, but winter is refusing to budge. A polar vortex is once again creeping south and engulfing much of Canada. Lauren McNabb reports.
TORONTO – As the frigid Arctic air once again descends further south into Canada, wind chill warnings are being issued across three provinces,
Northern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario are all under wind chill warnings with values expected to be near -40 C in most parts.
Winds of 15 km/h coupled with temperatures near -30 C will produce wind chill values near -45 C in Wollaston Lake and Fond-du-Lac, Sask.

The situation is similar in northern Manitoba. In Churchill, temperatures of -25 C together with strong winds near 30 km/h will make it feel closer to -50 C or colder. Those conditions are expected to last into Wednesday.
And Ontario is feeling the deep chill, too. In Fort Severn, winds between 15 to 25 km/h will make it feel closer to -45 C.
Though wind chill warnings haven’t been issued for southern parts of the provinces, the cold will be felt across all three provinces as the polar vortex begins its descent southward for the third time this year.
In Winnipeg, the forecast calls for high winds on Wednesday gusting to 60 km/h. There is the possibility that wind chill warnings will be issued during the day.
Already the city has seen 71 days below -30 C with the wind chill, and 29 days with values below -40 C. On average the city sees just 11.6 days of wind chill values below -40 C, and 40 days below -30 C.
