A massive facelift planned for Brentwood Mall in Burnaby was up for debate Tuesday night as the first phase of the project moves to a public hearing.
Burnaby residents got their chance to weigh in on a 53-storey residential tower on top of a three-level commercial complex.

It’s the first of a number of high-rise towers being proposed for the site.
The plans also include a 500,000 square foot outdoor shopping centre with more than 350 new shops and services.
Critics say there has been a lack of consultation, and many are concerned about how the project impacts transportation. In December the bus loop was closed, prompting lengthy detours.
Burnaby council will vote on whether to approve the tower on Monday.
