After numerous closures due to avalanches over the past week, the Coquihalla Highway is closing again Tuesday, but this time the closure is planned.
This comes on the heels of the highway reopening on Saturday after being closed for more than 24 hours.
The route will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday for avalanche control work.
Over the past few days high winds and new snow have been piling up on avalanche paths. Crews will be cleaning up parts of the highway that have been affected to ensure the safety of motorists.
Detours are available through Highway 1 at Kamloops, Highway 1 or 3 at Hope and Highway 8 and Highway 1 at Merritt.
The control work schedule depends on the weather conditions.
Motorists are advised to check Drivebc.ca for updates and road conditions.
Meantime, DriveBC reports the Trans Canada Highway will also be closed east of Revelstoke Tuesday for avalanche control, planned between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
