Grey Cup Parties

Huddletown festivities in Churchill Square (Postmedia News)

We’re three days away from the Grey Cup! CFL fans have been migrating to Edmonton all week and they’re going to have a good time.  I went around town today to check out some of the places that are going to be hosting the best CFL parties. There’s a lot to choose from.  Every CFL team is holding a party.  It’s not a major surprise that the Eskimos and Roughriders are starting their festivities before any other team.  One thing the two rivals have in common is they both know how to have a good time.  I’ve heard at least thirty thousand Rider fans are making the trip to Edmonton this week, so you know the Roughriders party is going to be crazy.

The Als and Riders practices were closed to the media and public today.  After holding a walk through at the Butterdome on Wednesday, Montreal practiced at Commonwealth Stadium for the first time.   The Als used artificial noise to simulate the conditions they’re expecting during the Grey Cup which is a good idea.  This is pretty much going to be a road game for the Alouettes.  Rider fans are going to be really really loud which is an obvious advantage for Saskatchewan.  Montreal’s offense has to be prepared to deal with the noise when they get to the line of scrimmage.  I’m expecting they will be.  They’re a veteran group who has been through the same situation plenty of times.

That’s my two cents for now.  I’ll have a few more penny’s to throw around tomorrow.
