Kamloops couple survive vacation boat sinking

KAMLOOPS B.C. — A Kamloops couple vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico, had a near death experience last week when the dive boat they were on suddenly began taking on water and sank.

Tim and Diane Barry were trapped in the cabin, along with another man. As the boat began to list to the left, Tim spotted a window, slid it open and forced his wife through the opening.

He and the other man followed just in the nick of time.

All on board were able to get off the sinking vessel but spent an hour and a half floating on a life jacket raft waiting for rescue. 

Barry says the experience won’t end her passion for scuba diving and the couple went on a night dive Tuesday night.
