OTTAWA – Suspended Senator Patrick Brazeau has landed a new job–as a strip club manager.

Brazeau is now employed as a day-shift manager of the Barefax Gentlemen’s Club in the Byward Market, according to Carmelina Bentivogilo, the daughter of the bar’s owner.

Brazeau entered the strip club shortly after 11 a.m. on Wednesday for his second day of work as one of three managers. He was also seen later exiting an office inside of Barefax. He did not answer reporters’ questions.

Bentivogilo said Brazeau is a friend of the family and approached a family member looking for a job.

“We were in the midst of looking for somebody and he kind of just fell in our lap,” Bentivogilo said.

Bentivogilo said Brazeau was not previously a customer at the bar.

Brazeau will work four days a week, Tuesday to Friday. He will be responsible for dealing with between 25-30 people during his shift, Bentivogilo said. He will also be on a three-month probation, a standard for all employees.

“I think he’ll be good with customers…he’s a very nice man,” Bentivogilo said. “He’s got to be somewhat of a smart guy,” she added. “He’s the youngest senator ever, right? So I’m hoping it might help our business. You never know.”

Bentivogilo added she’s not sure if Brazeau plans to stay at the establishment for long.

“I don’t know what his plans are. I guess if he gets reinstated, then no. But if he doesn’t, then hopefully [he’ll keep working here].”

Earlier this month, the RCMP charged Brazeau and former senator Mac Harb with one count each of fraud and breach of trust in relation to their travel and living expense claims.

Bentivogilo said having Brazeau as a manager was “definitely different.”

“It’s not every day you have a senator working.”
