WINNIPEG – It was day two of testimony from Corey Tymchyshyn today, one of the men accused in the 2008 drug-related murder of Chad Davis.
The Crown says he and co-accused Kris Brincheski lured Davis to a garage and killed him before putting his body in a barrel and dumping it in a river.
But Tymchyshyn testified it was Brincheski who killed Davis in self-defense, telling the court he wasn’t even there when it happened. He alleged that Davis attacked Brincheski while brandishing a gun, even pistol whipping him, before Brincheski was able to get a hold of a hammer and hit him with it causing his death.
Tymchyshyn admitted to attempting to conceal the crime by putting Davis’ body in a barrel and dumping it in a river.
Brincheski’s lawyer challenged Tymchyshyn’s denial during cross-examination, pointing out his violent history and penchant for making death threats.
It’s unknown if Brincheski will also take the stand in his own defense.
