According to police, the girl was in the back seat of a black 2024 Nissan Kick from Quebec with the license plate FRV4520 that was fleeing the scene of a shooting that occurred that same afternoon in Brampton, Ont.

The alert was sent out to mobile devices shortly after 5 p.m. Eastern time.

Peel Regional Police said it’s believed the child was dropped off with family members.

They also did not disclose the relationship between the girl and the suspect.

Police said it’s believed to be a case of intimate partner violence between the suspect and the victim in the shooting case, though they did not provide further details.

The suspect in the Amber Alert and shooting has been identified as 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, who police say remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

Anthony Deschepper has been named a suspect in the disappearance of a one-year-old girl who has since been found, and in the shooting death of a woman in Brampton, Ont. Ontario Provincial Police/Peel Regional Police
