CALGARY – The first in a series of public meetings about a power line southwest of Calgary will be held Monday night in High River.

The proposed line would transmit wind power from a new substation in between High River and Okotoks to a sub-station being proposed by Enmax in southeast Calgary.

The meetings are the first step in the process.

Once they are complete, AltaLink will meet one-on-one with landowners who may be affected by the line.

“After all that happens we file an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission. They will ultimately decide which route is approved and move on from there,” says Scott Schreiner, AltaLink.

The open house will be held at the Highwood Memorial Centre at 128 – 5th Avenue West from 4:00 – 8:00p.m.

AltaLink officials will be in Okotoks on Tuesday and Indus on Wednesday.
