CALGARY – A rainbow flag is now flying in front of SAIT Polytechnic for the first time in the school’s history.
The flag was raised at 8 a.m. on Tuesday in front of Stan Grad/Heritage Hall, in advance of the campus’ first-ever Pride Awareness Day on Wednesday.

SAIT’s Students’ Association (SAITSA) says it was done in support of the LGBTQ community at the campus.
“This event is so important for all students here at SAIT,” says Amanda Hanna, VP Student Life for the SAIT Students’ Association. “It demonstrates with action, that we are a fully inclusive campus. SAIT Polytechnic is a place for learning and all students should feel comfortable and safe on campus.”
A rainbow flag was recently raised outside City Hall, to show solidarity with the gay community as the Olympics get underway in Russia.
Several other cities across the country did the same, including Halifax, Montreal and Edmonton.
