Train derailment slows traffic in central Regina

A train hopped the tracks in central Regina last night, causing traffic to be detoured around the area.

CN confirmed the train derailed on the CP tracks around 5:30, blocking traffic at Dewdney Avenue and McIntyre Street. The eastbound lane of 8th Avenue around McIntyre was also blocked. The train left the tracks but remained upright.

Police were on scene redirecting traffic until about 7 p.m. There is no word on a cause.
