The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released linebacker Henoc Muamba, the first overall pick of the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft, so he can pursue NFL opportunities.

Muamba worked out for the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

In a Bomber news release, general manager Kyle Walters wished Muamba the best in his pursuit of an NFL opportunity.

“Henoc is a great player and an even better person and sincerely thank him for his contributions, both on and off the field, with our organization.”

Meanwhile the Bombers have added import wide receiver Quentin Sims. Sims, who is 6-3, played his first two years at Georgia Tech before transferring to the University of Tennessee-Martin. He was signed by the New England Patriots last year and appeared in four pre-season games, catching four passes for 86 yards, including two for touchdowns on passes thrown by Tim Tebow in a game against the New York Giants.
