VANCOUVER – A new $2 million, 20-storey high ride will be added later this year to Playland, it was announced Monday.
The new ride will be Playland’s tallest attraction standing at 218 feet — 16 feet higher than the popular Hellivator.
PNE media official Laura Ballance said the ride "lifts you up to 218 feet and swings you in a circle at 70 kilometres and hour."
"It’s the hottest ride in Europe," she said.
The ride is known as the Star Flyer in Europe but will have a new name once it’s installed at the PNE, she said.
It should be in operation sometime in July and will be available to Playland patrons at no extra cost.
"There won’t be any extra charge. It will be free with admission," she said.
