Police were called to Kap’s Cafe on 120th Street near 84th Avenue just before 2 a.m. on Thursday.

The cafe is owned by Bollywood star Kapil Sharma and just opened earlier this week. He is a well-known Indian stand-up comedian, television host, actor, producer and singer.

While the cafe was closed, police confirmed restaurant staff were inside at the time of the shooting, but no one was hurt.

Officers are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance video.

“It’s really exciting to have these businesses open in Canada, and in Surrey, and I was excited to come to the cafe and I still think we should all come and support, because it’s not okay, it’s not okay for local businesses to be shot at, and it’s very upsetting,” cafe customer, Sharin Whitty told Global News.

There is no information on any possible motive or suspect at this time.
