RCMP are looking for women who may have been victimized by Shannon Bradford Dixon, 33, also known as Shannon Mercer. Dixon is currently facing more than 20 charges, including extortion, fraud, sexual assault, assault, uttering threats, bestiality, and injuring or endangering animals.

Police believe Dixon targets Alberta women he meets on dating websites. It is believed that Dixon engages in sexually intimate relationships with these women, convincing them to allow him to take compromising photos of them. Dixon then allegedly threatens to post the photos on social networking sites if the women do not give him money. According to RCMP, he has taken between $10,000 and $300, 000 from victims.

A Grande Prairie woman initially came forward to police in April of 2010, claiming Dixon had physically abused her, and extorted $300,000 from her. RCMP believed that there were likely other women who had been victimized.

At this time five women from all over Alberta have come forward alleging that they are victims.

Global News spoke with one of the women who alleges she was victimized by Dixon on Friday. She does not want to be identified because she fears for her safety.

The victim says she met Dixon online in January. On their second date, she says Dixon bit her and burned her private parts with a lighter. She is speaking out now in hopes that other women will not go through the same kind of pain.

"I hope what I do gives other women the courage to come forward and at least tell their story at the very least." she said "He needs to be stopped he needs to be put away."

Dixon was arrested on March 22nd in Ontario, where he is facing domestic violence charges. He will answer to the charges in Ontario, before being returned to Alberta to gace the charges here.

He is originally from Newfoundland, but has been living in Alberta for several years.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Dixon is asked to contact their local police department and provide a statement.
