A small school in the North Okanagan has put together the best competitive dance team in the province.
Pleasant Valley Secondary School in Armstrong swept every single category in a provincial dance competition in February, beating out even some of the best hip hop teams in Vancouver.
This week the team was recognized with an award of excellence from Armstrong City Hall.
Dancers say lots of practice and a positive team dynamic are the reasons why a tiny agricultural community can out dance the rest of the province.
This weekend, the school will host their own competition; eight teams from across B.C. and a team from Alberta will be participating.
The teams will compete in the categories of small teams, duets, trios and open character.
About 500 people are expected to pack the gym for what promises to be an adrenaline-filled event.
The competition will be held on Saturday at the Pleasant Valley Secondary School in Armstrong.
The event kicks off at 6 pm.
