More big ticket concerts rolling into Saskatoon

Watch the video above: Saskatoon is becoming a strong concert market and attracting big names

SASKATOON – Unless you were cheering for Saskatchewan’s Jon Ryan on the Seattle Seahawks, the best part of Super Bowl XLVIII was probably the halftime show.

Bruno Mars didn’t disappoint, if anything he gained even more fans.

A morning after being on the world stage, tickets for Mars’ show at Saskatoon’s Credit Union Centre (CUC) went on sale.

The music icon’s performance was still the buzz among Saskatonians who lined up for hours Monday morning to purchase tickets for his Aug. 3 concert.

While most attempted to get tickets online, some thought they would have better luck at the box office. Only 1,000 tickets pre-sold, so there were about 12,000 to go around.

With big names like Bruno Mars and Katy Perry coming to Saskatoon this year; no matter the price, shows are selling out.

“Success will bring more success and our market has proven to be a very stable, strong concert market. If you look at Bruno Mars, and then at Katy Perry, and then you look at Pink, Saskatoon is the smallest market on all those tours,” said Scott Ford, CUC executive director.

In August, Katy Perry will take the stage and another big announcement is expected on Tuesday.
