SASKATOON – Sex week has started up at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) on Monday in Saskatoon.

The event organized by the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union (USSU) is aimed towards protection, informed consent, sexual diversity and promoting positive views towards sex.

Among the activities planned are a sex toy party, film screenings and poetry readings.

“It’s an opportunity for us as the students’ union to kind of talk to students about sex, intimacy, relationships anything like that, whether or not you’re having sex,” said Natalya Mason, USSU help centre coordinator.

“We just want to make sure everybody is being safe and talking about consent, stuff like that.”

The Carnival of Sex tops off the event on Saturday night with burlesque, drag queens and Brazilian dancers. The USSU is offering free tickets to anyone who gets a sexually transmitted infections (STI) test at the student health centre.
